Lineworker

Build and repair the overhead and underground power lines that carry electricity from plants to homes, businesses and data centers.

Licensing: No national lineworker license. OSHA 1910.269 requires employers to train line workers in safe work practices and emergency procedures such as pole top rescue, and to have first aid trained persons on crews. Most employers want a CDL Class A. The usual route is a pre apprentice lineworker school followed by a roughly four year registered apprenticeship (Massachusetts lists 8,000 hours).
